NOVAMONT North America among the speakers of The Mid-Atlantic Fruit And Vegetable Convention
From January 31st until February 2nd 2017 the new edition of “Mid-Atlantic Fruit and Vegetable Convention” will be held in Pennsylvania at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center.
The Convention has become the most important grower meeting in the Northeast, combining three days of concurrent educational sessions with a large industry trade show with numerous networking opportunities. The objective is to enable fruit, vegetable and berry growers as well as direct marketers to stay on the cutting edge of their industries.
On February 1st at 2:30 pm, Dan Martens - Vice President of NOVAMONT North America, will attend the convention with a presentation on “Biodegradable Mulch Applications and Results”. His speech will cover current applications of MATER-BI bioplastics mulch films in EU and North America and will give an overview of cost comparisons, performance and product grades.
Biodegradable mulch films, such the MATER-BI films, offer all the agronomical advantages of traditional plastic films and, due to their biodegradability, can be left into the soil at the end of the crop cycle without any toxic effects. Yet eliminating the costs and time to remove the film from the soil.
Data collected during 15 years of experimental and commercial activity show that biodegradable MATER-BI mulch films with different thickness can be used for several short, medium and long cycle crops like lettuce, melon, tomato, pepper, strawberry, grapevine and others. Trials comparing biodegradable films and traditional plastic films show on par performance in terms of yield, quality, and weed control.
