Novamont North America presents Mater-Bi at the Plastics Caps & Closures conference 2019
The Plastics Caps & Closures conference 2019 was held on September 9th-11th in Chicago. The event is the largest North American conference targeting plastics caps and closures makers, focusing on some of the industry changes and emerging issues that will affect how the industry will conduct business today and the near future.
The aim of the conference was to provide a stimulating discussion on many of the top innovations, process and product technologies, materials, trends and consumer insights from top brand owners, major parts producers and noted experts in two days of conference sessions.
On September 10th, Dan Martens, Vice President of Novamont North America, was among the speakers of the Panel discussion Bioplastics, Compostability and Caps, moderated by Patrick Krieger Assistant Director, Regulatory and Technical Affairs PLASTICS Industry Association and attended by Emanuel Martins - Technical Development Manager Earth Renewable Technologies.
Within the panel, which explored the impact of compostable and bio-based plastics on future caps and closures development,
Dan Martens presented the Mater-Bi, the innovative family of biodegradable and compostable bioplastics developed by Novamont research.
Mater-Bi provides solutions for specific environmental problems, such as soil and water pollution, while combining product quality and performance with an efficient use of resources. In particular, Mater-Bi has been conceived for applications in which biodegradability and compostability represent an added value, such as shopping bags that can be reused to collect organic waste or foodware products “contaminated” with leftovers, or serve a function, such as mulch films. The main fields of application are: separate waste collection, agriculture, large retail sector, disposable foodserviceware, packaging.
