Novamont participates in "Eurofillers Polymers Blends" to celebrate 50 years of research on polymers of the University of Palermo
From 23th to 26th April, the University of Palermo hosted “The Eurofillers Polymers Blends convention” to celebrate 50 years of research on polymers in the faculty of materials engineering and the retirement of the University’s Pro-Rector Francesco Paolo La Mantia.
The initiative, organized by MoDeSt Society - Modification, Degradation and Stabilization of Polymers has brought together universities, research centers and industry to discuss the issue of polymer blends, offering a scientific program with an intense schedule of workshops.
Novamont, sponsor of the initiative, has shown its decades of experience in the field of biodegradable polymers with Luigi Capuzzi - Novamont Research Director - and Tiziana Milizia, Head of R&D Bioplastics Area.
Capuzzi presented how Novamont developed Mater-Bi, the biodegradable and compostable bioplastic of renewable origin, which today is the result of four technologies first in the world, developed in a logic of upstream integration with the agricultural sector. Milizia instead illustrated the sectors in which biodegradable and compostable materials represent a real added value, such as the separate collection of organic waste, collective catering, large-scale distribution, agriculture and packaging.
