IFIB 2019 –Biotechnologies protagonist in Campania Region
On 3 and 4 October 2019, IFIB, the International Forum on Industrial Biotechnology and the Bioeconomy, one of the leading events at the global level dedicated entirely to the bioeconomy, was held.
The event, which now has reach its ninth edition, was organized by Assobiotec, the National Association for the Development of Biotechnology and SPRING, The National Technological Cluster of Green Chemistry, in collaboration with Innovhub-Stazioni Sperimentali for Industry and ITA (Italian Trade Agency), Enterprise Europe Network- EEN, the European Commission's SME support network, Campania Region, University of Studies of Naples Federico II, Chamber of Commerce of Naples and Si Impresa.
The 2019 edition of IFIB, was attended by Fabio Sagnelli, Program Manager of Novamont, who presented the Novamont Bioeconomy model, which is based on the regeneration of deindustrialized sites, on products conceived as solutions to environmental problems and on an integrated low-impact agricultural value chain, which is also developed on Southern Italy and Campania region’s marginal lands of.
This year, the Novamont Research Center for the development of industrial biotechnology, located in Piana di Monte Verna, in the province of Caserta, also played a leading role within IFIB's satellite events.
On 4 October, the Center welcomed two delegations, one representing the Signature Bois Laurentides, the Quebec industrial cluster for the wood industry and the partners of POWER4BIO, a European project that aims to support the European regions in the transition to the bioeconomy. The moment for dialogue represented an opportunity to share activities, good practices and challenges in the bioeconomy sector.
